The Story of the
TLC Humane Society
Mobile Adoption and
Disaster Response Van
Once upon a time there was a tiny little humane society nestled in the mountains of north Georgia. This little society had a passion for fixing up stray, abandoned, neglected, sick and injured animals. They would find these animals good folks who would adopt them. They found homes for 500-600 animals a year.
For years, they had been going to adoption in a little animal truck that the county provided them. The truck was getting older and older. Every time they used the truck more and more things fell off. Besides, it was too small.
One day, they traveled to PetsMart for adoptions with the truck full of animals, when the truck gave a long gasp and died on the side of the road. What would they do? How would they get the animals to adoptions? Volunteers can arunning, loaded the animals into their cars and they had adoptions anyway.
The president of the society dreamed of a sturdy truck that was big enough to carry many animals in comfort. Someone must have notified the "adoption truck fairy" because a gift of $13,000 and one for $26,000 arrived out of the blue. The truck became a reality.
Having the truck means:
And more adoptions
